trail riding series

Saturdays: September 18th – October 23rd at 4:00 – 6:00 pm

UBCycles Trail Riding Series will include 6 fun-filled rides at a variety of mountain biking locations around Kelowna. Each ride occurs on Saturdays for a 2-hour period beginning September 18th and wrapping up October 23rd. Spots are limited so sign up today!

Participants are responsible for their transportation to and from the trail networks, as well as their own bike and protective equipment. The cost is $25.00 for the entire series.


R100 Workout CHALLENGE

R100 Workout Challenge begins on September 7th and runs until April 8th, 2022.

Start your semester off right with the R100 Workout Challenge.  Can you complete 100 workouts over the Academic Year?  Are you up for the challenge?

A minimum 30-minute workout or activity is suggested to complete your activity for the day.  You can choose to workout in the Hangar, attend a Group Fitness Class, participate on an Intramural team or drop-in to shoot hoops.  How you stay active is up to you.

You must check in or scan your membership card at the Customer Service Desk or Hangar Fitness Centre for the workout or activity to be documented on your account. Only one workout or activity will count per day.  Participants must have a valid membership to take part in the R100 Workout Challenge.



cfes fitness instructor certification course

Times: 12:00-5:00pm 

Want to become a Group Fitness Instructor? Here is your chance. This course is lead by Kim Froom, CSEP CPT, CFES Educator & owner of Active Lifestyle Consulting, this course teaches the practical skills and professional ethics required to be a successful group fitness instructor.

Attendees will learn how to program plan for all class sections and fitness levels in a safe and caring atmosphere, as well as proper use of space, group formations and/or choreography skills. Stability ball, step, and free weight exercise ideas/techniques in both high and low impact situations will also be taught. This course will provide ample teaching opportunities throughout the course itself and supplemental practicum components.

Course Fees:

$375.00 (UBC Students)

$425.00 (Non-UBC Students)

Fees include course materials and instruction.

*practical assessment and exam fees are additional costs.


intramural sport leagues

*Registration is now closed, however, you are welcome to join existing teams until Oct 8th!

Intramural sports are a great way to keep active, make some friends, and have some fun while at UBCO. Several different sport and league options are available, ranging from recreational to competitive options. Some leagues have options for individual registration, so even if you haven’t been able to round up a team of your own – no worries.

October 15th at 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Residence Life and UBCO Recreation have partnered once again to offer this exciting event. Start times will be staggered in heats departing every 5 minutes, so you can choose a time that works best for your team.

Each team will receive four $5 food truck vouchers at race check in the day of the event. There will also be prizes for best dressed, most-spirited, and most efficient team!

Cost: $20/team

Location: Start/End between Fipke & UNC buildings

kickboxing classes

Wednesdays at 6:35 – 7:35 pm from October 6th to November 3rd

Join Recreation for a 5-week session of kickboxing classes at the UBCO Hangar Fitness Centre. Only $35 for 5 sessions. There are limited spots available, so sign up today!
