movement break challenge
The Move UBC Movement Break Challenge is a fun and inclusive way to break up our sedentary time during our days for Faculty and Staff! Small changes can have a big impact when it comes to reducing sedentary behavior and increasing physical activity. This challenge invites you to plan for, implement and engage with movement during your day to increase your faculty, department or unit’s total movement breaks. The best part? It’s free, simple and you’ll have a chance to win great prizes! Let’s get our campus and the communities we impact moving! Congratulations for last year’s winner, Faculty of Management with a total of 2387 reported movement breaks!
Thank you to everyone who participated in GoByBike week (Sept 27 to Oct 10)!
Together we cycled a total of 1,230km through 83 rides. That’s more than the distance from Vancouver to Saskatoon! We burnt a total of 36,900 calories and reduced 267 KgGhgs in greenhouse gases. Way to go!
The next GoByBike week will take place in the spring. Stay tuned for more information!
Keep on biking! Check out UBCycles for all bike-related services and events in the meantime.
