Faculty & Staff Sports Day
The Annual Faculty & Staff Sports Day returns for an afternoon of connection, collaboration, and light-hearted competition, hosted by Human Resources and Recreation. This event is designed to bring colleagues together in an inclusive environment that prioritizes fun, teamwork, and campus community. All UBC faculty, staff, and graduate students are welcome to join.
What to expect: Participants will join teams of 4-6 to rotate through a variety of activity stations between 1-3pm. Put together a team with your department or unit, with colleagues across campus or register as an individual and we will find a team for you! Activities will include a mix of:
- low impact physical challenges
- light strategy and problem solving tasks
- team building games designed for laughter and collaboration
No prior experience or athletic ability is required. Activities are designed to be approachable and adaptable for different comfort and ability levels. Participants are encouraged to engage at a level that feels right for them. Spectators and enthuastic supporters are also welcome. Teams are encouraged to wear costumes and bring their team spirit!

- Light Lunch: 12:00-1:00pm
- Opening Ceremonies: 1:00pm
- Activity Rotation: 1:10-3:00pm
- Closing Ceremonies: 3:00-3:30pm

Volunteers are essential in making this event a success—we appreciate your incredible support. Activity volunteers provide instructions, track scores and cheer on all the teams.

No. Activities are designed for a wide range of comfort and ability levels. This is about connection and teamwork — not fitness performance. Most activities are light to moderate physical intensity that may involve walking, throwing or collaborative tasks. All station can be adapted.
This Sports Day is designed for your abilities. If you’d like to compete, then we encourage you to show off your skills . There will be activity scoring and recognition at the end of the day, but the primary goal is campus connection and fun.
Yes. Many stations involve strategy or teamwork components. Participation at each station is optional, and accommodations can be arranged. Please contact us in advance so we can support you.
Register as an individual and we will place you on a team. Its an excellent opportunity to meet others on campus!
