UBCO Recreation is committed to providing the campus community with welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable physical activity opportunities. We’re proud to offer a number of free and low barrier activities suitable for all abilities, backgrounds, and fitness levels.

Recess Revival

Recess Revival is your throwback to childhood fun—think dodgeball, capture the flag, and other classic games with a campus twist. It’s all about taking a break, moving your body, and reconnecting with play in a zero-pressure, all-fun environment. Come solo or bring your crew—everyone’s welcome.

Move UBC

Move UBC is a month-long movement campaign that’s all about making it easier (and more fun) to get active on campus. From pop-up events to free fitness classes, it’s your chance to try something new, move your way, and boost your well-being—no gym membership required.

Hiking Series

The Hiking Series is your chance to explore the Okanagan’s trails with a welcoming crew and stunning views guaranteed. Whether you’re new to hiking or just love being outdoors, these guided adventures are all about good vibes, fresh air, and making connections along the way. Just bring your water bottle—we’ll handle the rest.

Workout Buddies

Looking to get active but want some support along the way? The Workout Buddy Program pairs you with a trained Health and Exercise Science practicum student who’ll guide and motivate you through personalized workouts based on your goals. It’s a free and welcoming way to move more, build confidence, and stay accountable on your fitness journey.

Intercultural Activity Series 

Whether you want to take part in a familiar tradition from your own culture or try something from another, these beginnerfriendly activities are designed to bring students from all backgrounds together through movement, games, and shared experiences. New activities are added throughout the year from Bhangra Dance to Futsal to Galah Panjang so join the fun and meet new people, try something different, and celebrate what makes us unique.
